1 2/3 cups sugar
¾ cup butter/margarine (or mashed beans)
2 Tbsp. water
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/3 cups white flour (can split with whole-wheat)
¾ cup cocoa
½ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. salt
¾ c. chopped nuts (optional)
Stir together sugar, water & butter in large bowl. Stir in eggs. Stir in vanilla. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder & salt in a separate bowl. Stir into sugar mixture. Stir in nuts.
Spread onto greased 13X9 inch baking pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 18-22 min. or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky. Cool in pan.
